About Us

We are based on the Isle of Islay on the West Coast of Scotland. We have five of our own pods on site here, used as glamping holiday accommodation. As we are used to such wild, wet and windy weather in the Hebrides, our pods are built to sustain even the toughest weather conditions. 

Gus Newman, our Managing Director, created the Storm-Pod. A completely unique, fibreglass accommodation unit that is both effective and affordable. Gus started out as the Director of StormCats, Scotland’s largest GRP boat building company, using fiberglass to build hulls of his boats. This is what gave him the idea to develop the first fibreglass shelled accommodation unit. 

Having become an expert in building with fiberglass, Gus often thought that its strength and lifespan of would be an ideal material to use in the construction of accommodation units. Gus concluded that by combining fibreglass with other strengthening materials, he could create a structure that could combat the extreme west coast weather and possess a long lifespan, even if placed underground.

Along with Gus, we have a workforce of highly skilled personnel. Our onsite joiner, Adrian, builds all of the pods by hand, alongside trained professionals and local tradesmen. Having been a joiner for over 30 years, Adrian is experienced and knowledgeable in the field and in the construction of building our bespoke Storm-Pods.

We also have an office based onsite, which offers full support and timely communication with customers. You can reach us easily 9-5, five days a week.

We are currently at the forefront of the concept of the pods, having developed a range of simple and affordable units that combine ground-breaking fibreglass building techniques with luxury and comfort in mind. We have a variety of standardised designs, allowing customers to adapt and add extras as per their own requirements. 

Although many of our pods are built as glamping and holiday accommodation, we can build pods for a wide variety of uses. Examples include, staff accommodation, office spaces, studios, annex, yoga spaces and permanent homes.
